An exhibition pavilion for the Melbourne Botanic Gardens, designed to house the work of Oxman Institute. A single folded canopy rests lightly over a partly sunken gallery, sheltering the exhibition without competing with it.

Brief
Designed for an exhibition design subject at Swinburne, this project proposed a temporary space within the Melbourne Botanic Gardens to house the work of Neri Oxman. The building was intended to defer to both the exhibition and the surrounding garden.
Approach
A faceted canopy folds down over a sunken viewing space, creating a quiet spatial threshold between garden and exhibition. The form reads as one continuous surface settling onto the land, light in presence but structured enough to frame the work beneath it.
